I came in meaning to buy a bottle for home, one of those raw February evenings when Sant Antoni empties early, and stayed for a glass instead; that is the Garage Bar effect. Half shop, half bar, open in the evenings only, with a natural-leaning list and no interest in dressing itself up. On a cold night the room does something kind: the crowd treats vi as everyday pleasure rather than occasion, and the warmth holds even when the wine is merely good. Merely good is sometimes the truth here, too; it is dependable rather than thrilling, which is why it sits in my rotation without ever topping it. Every couple of months, when the weather makes its argument for a counter and an easy pour, I am glad of it. Closed on Sundays, so aim for midweek.
Order this: A glass of the day's open pour, then the same bottle to take home.

No reservation needed, which mattered, because it was one of those broiling July evenings when planning anything feels impossible. We wandered in, got two cold glasses of something natural and unfussy, and stayed far longer than intended. The regulars treat wine as an everyday pleasure rather than an occasion, and the whole place runs on that same relaxed logic. It's earned a steady slot in my rotation; dependable rather than dazzling, but in that heat, dependable was exactly right.
Something briny to start, a cold and cloudy glass beside it, and the first truly hot June evening pushing through the open door. Garage Bar suits that weather; nobody dresses wine up as an occasion here, so you drink the way summer asks you to (in shirtsleeves, without ceremony). The list rarely astonishes, which is my one quibble, and the season forgave it entirely. Easy company, not a destination, and in high summer that is precisely the point.
