I confess I hoard this address. Friends come through Barcelona, ask where to eat, and I hand over half my list while keeping the garden quietly for myself. It suits a particular guest: the one who has tramped the Eixample all day and needs the city switched off, or a parent you want properly fed without performance. Beyond the trees the traffic carries on unmissed. The cooking is Catalan-Mediterranean, calmly seasonal, market-led without making a sermon of it, and nothing arrives trying to dazzle you, which is rather the point. Prices are fair for a postcode where fairness is not the local custom. I return at steady intervals through the year, always with somebody I actually like, and it has yet to let either of us down.
Order this: Whatever vegetable is in season, and a long slow hour under the trees.

It was one of those July evenings when the sidewalk radiates heat back at you, and then the garden gate shut behind me and the whole day just gave up. The final bite, a spoonful of something seasonal and quietly perfect, got eaten under real leaves while the city honked somewhere far off. Nothing here shouts. That's kind of the whole flavor of the place, calm on purpose, and I'm keeping it in rotation for every heat wave.
Halfway through dinner a waiter noticed my companion's shawl slipping from her chair and returned it folded, without a word, before she had missed it. Service of that temper suits the place: a garden in the Dreta de l'Eixample where the traffic stops existing, and a Catalan-Mediterranean kitchen that follows the market with an even hand. Nothing shouts. On a warm night the setting does half the work, and gladly. The ease brings me back through the year as much as the cooking.
Confession: when the bill arrived I read it twice, not from suspicion but because the evening had felt like more than the sum at the bottom. Walking out through the garden, the traffic still muffled somewhere past the trees, I carried that rare feeling of being fed and becalmed at once. Seasonal Catalan cooking that keeps its voice down, a setting that earns its keep. I pay, I leave lighter, and the next booking never waits long.
