Our take

On this broad, calm block of Les Corts, the light from Leña's windows does half the persuading before you reach the door. Once inside, the grill sets the rhythm, but what won me over was the drinking. Wine is handled as part of the meal's machinery, never an upsell: bottles suggested to match smoke and char, poured at the right moment, topped up without hovering. Ask vaguely and you get an answer with an opinion inside it, my favourite sign of a floor that tastes what it sells. The cooking has swagger and delivers on it, and the glasses keep pace all night, che meraviglia when both halves of a table pull together like that. I pass this way seldom, in truth, but every visit ends with me lingering over the last pour, promising myself the next one before the year gets away.

Order this: Something off the grill with real char, and let the floor pick the wine.

Something braised arrived just as the year's first proper cold settled on Les Corts, and the timing flattered both. Leña has energy without racket, and the cooks seem to enjoy the work rather than merely clock it. That warmth counts on a raw afternoon. Still, I left content rather than converted; one visit each winter, chosen for the weather, feels like the right arrangement.

Rain hammering Les Corts, coats steaming on the chair backs, and a room that refuses to let the evening turn grey. I know this place gets shrugged off as just another neighbourhood table with swagger; I disagree. The kitchen audibly enjoys its work, the energy stops short of din, and on a foul night that counts double. I'd return with each turn of the weather, the fouler the better.
