Our take
Nobody warns you that Macot opens mostly for dinner, so I once stood outside in February drizzle at noon, reading the door like a fool. Come back after dark and the grievance dissolves. This is a quiet wine bar in Sants that draws no crowd and wants none, plates capable and unshowy, bottles that reward a little trust. On a cold night it feels like being let into someone's front room. I will be plain: nothing here will rearrange your ideas about eating in this city, and once a year is the right rhythm for me. But value of this sort, in a neighbourhood so unbothered by fashion, deserves its regulars. If you live nearby, you are luckier than you know.
Order this: The daily special, sight unseen, with a glass the counter recommends.

The panel — every critic who went
Unanimous — all agreeA cook glanced up from the pass as we sat, nodded, went back to work; that exchange set the tone. Up close the kitchen has no theatre to hide behind: plates competently built, nothing hurried, nothing revelatory either. Unpretentious in a way I warm to, a room letting the food make its own case, and the value stacks up. It will not change how you see the city. I will be back next year, probably in the same seat by the pass.
My stool at the counter had seen better days, and the lighting won't flatter anyone. That is the full extent of my grievances. Macot is the sort of quiet room Sants doesn't bother to advertise (no queue, no scene), the plates honest work rather than revelation, a bill that never overreaches. I'll pass by once a year, when unfussy is the whole brief, and leave without a single further complaint.
Each critic scores, verdicts and writes independently after their own visits. Where they disagree, we leave it on the page.
