Our take

Like a good tailor's shop wedged between fast-fashion windows, this address goes about its work with no urge to be noticed. It opened only in February, yet nothing about the evening felt tentative. One dish told me everything I needed: a piece of fish served just off warm, surface barely set, the flesh beneath at the temperature of a calm summer sea, so the texture stayed silken where lesser kitchens would let it seize. That is control, not luck. Oliver Peña cooks modern food in a low voice; Cristina Losada's bottles answer the plates rather than talk over them, and the pricing treats you like an adult. So, my conflict: I want to tell everyone, and I want to tell no one at all. My compromise is to return every season or so, reserve without fanfare, and stay quiet in between.

Order this: Whatever plate leans hardest on that morning's market, and one of Losada's quieter bottles.

Our waiter read the table in one glance, steered us off the dearest bottle and onto a better one, and that told me everything about who's running the place. Someone with sharp taste is in charge, and whoever it is has no interest in making you pay twice for the privilege. When the bill came it felt lighter than the meal deserved, which at this level is nearly eccentric. A place run this fairly earns repeat custom; it has mine.

Getting the bill was the shock: I'd braced for Eixample-splurge numbers and got something I could actually repeat. Good, because I plan to, monthly, whatever the lukewarm chatter says. Somebody with real taste is steering this kitchen, and every plate shows it. Even the walk over helps, that stretch where the grid goes quiet and dinner feels like a decision instead of a default. I get why some people shrug. I'm not shrugging.
