Our take
Pale gold on the left, something hazier on the right: two glasses, one small dilemma, and behind them a counter that knows its cellar properly. Honesty about the address first, though. The bar that made this name famous on Diputació shut a few years ago; what stands now is the shop that outlived it, wine and cheese served along one side. Smaller gravity, same intent. The list runs wide yet stays navigable, naturals appear for whoever thinks to ask, and the glass selection goes deep enough to be an education on its own. More formal than a relaxed vi really wants, true. Even so, each year I steer one person here, somebody ready to grasp what is in their glass, and between those two pours they begin to.
Order this: Two contrasting whites side by side; taste your way from one to the other.

The panel — every critic who went
Unanimous — all agreeI nearly asked for the sherry I'd been eyeing, then let the list talk me into a white I couldn't have found on my own — which is the whole point of Món Vínic. That list is enormous and (miracle of miracles) actually navigable. Come at lunch: the pace slows and the bottles get your full attention. At dinner it can feel more like homework than a bar. A yearly stop for me, ideally on an idle afternoon.
Second glass in, I realised what had changed since my first visit: nothing, and that cuts both ways. The list remains a deep, well-ordered thing, a pleasure to get lost in for an hour. But the warmth around it is thinner than I like, more library than tavern, and a table this quiet makes me miss noise. Allora, admiration is not longing. I will return, though not soon.
Halfway through my first glass, I caught the waiter watching me squint at the list, and he crossed the room to walk me through it, page by page, without a whisper of hurry. That list deserves the guidance: broad, but organised so you can actually navigate it. What I ate alongside was fine and forgettable. The wine, and that one patient kindness, are what I'll carry out of the Eixample.

The original Monvínic closed; this is the wine bar now running inside Monvínic Store on Diputació.
