Our take
Half past seven on a weekday and the counter is the place to be, elbows down, watching bottles come off the shelf like introductions. The name promises no bad grape and no ill will, and the bar keeps its word on both counts. Sandy and Noelia pour with the good humour of people who like their own list, which leans natural without turning it into a sermon. This isn't deep study; it's mood, and the mood here is infectious. My visits are yearly at best, always on the way to somewhere else, and I always stay longer than planned. Tell them what you usually drink, then let them nudge you one step sideways. The glass that arrives generally comes with a story attached.
Order this: Whatever glass Sandy and Noelia are grinning about today, with a plate of something salty.

The panel — every critic who went
Divisive — the panel splitsNo booking, as it happens; I walked in and a stool at the bar found me. Perhaps that informality is the point. This is not a cellar for deep study, and some will want more gravity than the natural-leaning list provides. I found I did not mind. The humour is good, the pours unstinting, the counter conversation better than most in the city. Against my own severity, I keep going back, more often than I admit.
One chair at our table wobbled, the kind of small thing that can nag all evening. The fellow pouring wedged a coaster under the leg mid-sentence, never pausing his story about the grower we were drinking, and the night tilted back into charm. Good humour runs through the place, name included: no ill will, no fuss, a natural-leaning list that refuses to take itself too seriously. Once a year suits it, when mood matters more than study.
Each critic scores, verdicts and writes independently after their own visits. Where they disagree, we leave it on the page.
