Our take

Halfway through the pours is when Teatro made the most sense to me: a glass set down mid-course, matched to the plate with actual intent, service moving like everyone backstage knew the script. I'm writing this in past tense on purpose. The place closed in December 2025, so treat this as a record, not a plan. What it was, though, was a genuinely ambitious creative kitchen in the Dreta de l'Eixample, composed plates, seasoning with a point of view, technique deployed for the food instead of for decoration. The drinks side kept pace instead of playing catch-up, which at that level is rarer than it should be. Had it survived, this would have been my quarterly splurge without hesitation. Pour one out, literally, for the good ones that don't make it.

Order this: Nothing now, sadly; when it ran, the tasting menu was the truest look at the kitchen.

Rain was flattening the Eixample the night I paid my last bill there, and I remember lingering at the door, coat half on, in no hurry to swap that room for the street. Teatro shut its doors last December, so read this as a farewell rather than a tip. What I settled that evening felt fully earned: creative cooking with a firm spine beneath the play. The city keeps losing rooms it can't spare.

Cold spoon, warm cream, a last mouthful that landed just so. That was my final taste of Teatro, and final is the word, since the doors shut for good last December. Consider this a record rather than a tip. The cooking was skilled, at moments genuinely lovely, and the dining room ran like clockwork. Even so, hand on heart, a yearly visit would have satisfied my appetite for it.

'You heard it closed, no?' came down the bar at a tasting last month, and yes, sadly, I had; December took it. What I keep is the memory of the house style: creative cooking with genuine daring, served to a smart Eixample crowd, and a glass in that room always felt like part of the performance. Consider these lines a keepsake rather than a tip. Some closings merely tidy the map. This one leaves a gap.
