Our take
Credit to our server for talking me into the longer menu, on an April night when the terrace crowd had been rained back indoors and the little room felt busier for it. Teòric asks slightly more of you than the average Eixample dinner: the plates carry ideas, and a few of them want explaining. When it works, and it mostly does, you get the good stuff, food that's curious about itself. When it doesn't, you shrug and the next course wins you back. Not flawless, but never boring, and in this city the second matters more. I time my visits for when curiosity outweighs my appetite for comfort, which turns out to be several evenings a year. Skip it on a night you just want feeding.
Order this: Go long: the bigger tasting menu rewards the commitment.

The panel — every critic who went
Unanimous — all agreeOrder fewer plates than you mean to. That's my blunt advice at Teòric, because this kitchen thinks hard and each dish asks for your full attention; pile them up and you stop tasting. It's a small, thoughtful room run by people with real intent, and the curiosity on the plate lifts the evening. Not everything lands. Enough does. Choose slowly and keep some appetite in reserve; it repays you.
On the pavement outside, the Eixample was doing its usual evening trade, and I remember thinking the bill would sting more than it did. Teòric is one of those thoughtful little rooms run by people who evidently think hard about food, and the inquisitive streak on the plate lifts an evening above the ordinary. Not everything lands, and you pay a proper Eixample price, but the sum feels square against what arrives. Fair value is rarer than it should be; I'll pay this one again.
